![]() While the SC-55 can sound better in some ways, there is no replacing the MT-32. You can really hear the difference in tracks like "Slime Blob" which have custom instruments and even sound effects that the SQ4CD General MIDI soundtrack had no way of replicating. While some samples don't sound quite as realistic as the SC-55's, the MT-32 supported custom timbre patches that Ken Allen took full advantage of. Elizabeth first got interested in space after watching the movie Apollo 13 in 1996, and still wants to be an astronaut someday. When Ken Allen originally recorded the soundtrack for Space Quest 4 he did so using the Roland MT-32 as the standard. ![]() Elizabeth is also a post-secondary instructor in communications and science since 2015. in Space Studies from the University of North Dakota, a Bachelor of Journalism from Canada's Carleton University and (soon) a Bachelor of History from Athabasca University. Her latest book, "Why Am I Taller?", is co-written with astronaut Dave Williams. Elizabeth's reporting includes multiple exclusives with the White House and Office of the Vice-President of the United States, an exclusive conversation with aspiring space tourist (and NSYNC bassist) Lance Bass, speaking several times with the International Space Station, witnessing five human spaceflight launches on two continents, working inside a spacesuit, and participating in a simulated Mars mission. ![]() She was contributing writer for (opens in new tab) for 10 years before joining full-time, freelancing since 2012. Proctor, a finalist for the 2009 NASA astronaut selection, has also served on several space analog crews and done outreach science communications on diversity and representation. Proctor supported Foxanne's crew of five as the role of mission control. "Analog missions like these allow scientists and researchers to conduct experiments in a unique Mars mission-esque environment and often, institutions like NASA collaborate on research done at analog facilities," Foxanne wrote in May in a story discussing a documentary she produced about the Sensoria M2 simulated Mars mission for. ![]() ![]() The Sensoria series of missions aimed to bring forward underrepresented groups in space exploration, with all missions being female-led and female-majority. Proctor and Foxanne got to know each other during the two-week Sensoria M2 space analog mission in November 2020, at the HI-SEAS (Hawaii Space Exploration Analog and Simulation) habitat on the side of the Hawaiian volcano Mauna Loa. ![]()
